Rose McGowan said Monday she stands by Evan Rachel Wood, following the actress’s abuse allegations against her ex, Marilyn Manson.
The “Charmed” star, who previously dated Manson, tweeted: “I stand with Evan Rachel Wood and other brave women who have come forward. It takes years to recover from abuse and I send them strength on their journey to recovery. Let the truth be revealed. Let the healing begin.”
McGowan, 47, and Manson, 52, were engaged for two years before splitting up in 2001.
Earlier in the day Monday, Wood — who was also once engaged to the shock rocker — named Manson as her alleged abuser.
“The name of my abuser is Brian Warner, also known to the world as Marilyn Manson,” the 33-year-old actress posted to Instagram.
“He started grooming me when I was a teenager and horrifically abused me for years. I was brainwashed and manipulated into submission,” Wood continued. “I am here to expose this dangerous man and call out the many industries that have enabled him, before he ruins any more lives. I stand with the many victims who will no longer be silent.”
Manson addressed the allegations on Monday night.
“Obviously, my art and my life have long been magnets for controversy, but these recent claims about me are horrible distortions of reality. My intimate relationships have always been entirely consensual with like-minded partners. Regardless of how — and why — others are now choosing to misrepresent the past, that is the truth,” he wrote on Instagram.
Manson’s record label, Loma Vista, has since dropped him in the wake of the Wood’s allegations.
“In light of today’s disturbing allegations by Evan Rachel Wood and other women naming Marilyn Manson as their abuser, Loma Vista will cease to further promote his current album, effective immediately,” Loma Vista said Monday in a statement to Variety.
“Due to these concerning developments, we have also decided not to work with Marilyn Manson on any future projects,” the statement continued.
Former porn star Jenna James has also spoken out about her past fling with Manson, stating she dumped him for allegedly fantasizing about burning her alive.
“Our relationship was odd. We didn’t go out long because I cut it off after he would nonchalantly say he fantasized about burning me alive. Sexually he liked to bite, and it was disconcerting,” Jameson told the Daily Mail of their 1997 fling.
Reps for Manson did not immediately return our request for comment.
