As a result of heavy rains and flash flooding, the NASCAR dirt race at Bristol which was originally scheduled for Sunday, March 28, had to be postponed. The Bristol Motor Speedway, located in Bristol, TN, is home to the Food City Dirt Race, and marks the seventh race of the NASCAR Cup Series 2021 season.
“Due to overnight weather and forecast, the Sullivan County flood warnings, and safety concerns, NASCAR has postponed all of Sunday’s on-track activity,” officials announced yesterday. Since rain plus dirt equals, you know, dozens of cars stuck in the mud, best to let the track dry out a bit.
The race, which requires three layers of more than 23,000 cubic yards of dirt to be laid over the track, will mark the first time on over 50 years that a NASCAR Cup Series race will be held on dirt. NASCAR race time today, March 29, will be at 4PM ET/PT. Here’s how to watch.
